Finn Stäblein

Hey, I'm Finn. This is a place where I keep notes on things I'm reading, watching, and working on.

It's a living document - a place to think in public and keep track of what's shaped my perspective.

I grew up in the scenic landscape of Southern Germany with a love for sports, science, and the outdoors. I started rowing when I was 10, and the sport shaped my life immensely for the next 8 years. It taught me the value of discipline, perseverance, and shaping a purpose. At the age of 18, I realized a dream by representing Germany as part of the national rowing team, winning gold at the Junior World Championships in the Men's Double.

Driven by the same desire of creating a purpose, I developed an interest in entrepreneurship. So, at 18, I moved to Berlin to join Europe's fastest-growing startup at the time.

I graduated from Stanford in June 2026, where I majored in Computational Biology.

Now, I've joined Floodgate as Mike Maple's Chief of Staff. I wouldn't have gone into Venture for many other roles bc I didn't want to spend my time networking and throwing around with LP money just to give them a worse return than they could get by just putting their money in the S&P 500.

My predecessor, Sam wrote an essay about what it's like working with Mike; which gives you a glimpse of why I'm doing exactly that now.

Feel free to reach out via LinkedIn, email, or join me for a run or bike ride around the Bay!
